Trade Chubb for a 3rd round pick? save cap space? Can’t win a Super Bowl with a running back? Why the Nick Chubb trade rumors are INSANE.

There has been buzz though the offseason surrounding Nick Chubb. A small handful of insane browns fans believe he should be traded for a 3rd round pick to save 12 million dollars in cap space. In this blog, I will discuss why I think these browns fans are just overthinking.

Browns fans want to trade Chubb due to him being 28 and taking up 12 million in cap space. Now before you go insane and jump on the trade Chubb train, remember who Nick Chubb is. He is one of the best players on our team! You never trade one of your best players for a 3rd round pick to save 12 million. He is an elite player, who is still in his prime and has not regressed yet. A 3rd round pick is unlikely to turn into a starter, let alone an elite player.

But what if we end of losing him for nothing because we didn’t trade him when we could? You want to take away 1-2 years of an elite level player, in a win now situation, for a 3rd round pick, and a little bit of cap space? I know the cap situations bad, but trading Nick Chubb won’t fix it. 12 million dollars a year is great for an elite player. 12 million dollars is Allen Lazard money, and you think it’s too much to have an elite player? Nick Chubb opens up the pass game with his running ability more than any 12-million-dollar receiver could.

But teams with good running backs don’t win the super bowl! Nonsense! how would getting rid of Nick Chubb make the team more likely to win the super bowl. Maybe you can’t give him 20 carries a game when you have Deshaun Watson, but that’s ok. I expect less carries this year for Chubb, but more yards per carry. They can’t load the box anymore, because they will be afraid of Watson, which is why I think this will be his best year. So why trade him before his best year?

Nick Chubb helps our team way more then 12 million dollars and a 3rd round pick is, so keep Chubb! plain and simple. Stop overthinking in July. It’s time to put an end to these rumors! If you are reading this and you still think Nick Chubb should be traded, please give me a reason in the comments of one of my tweets!
