What are the browns options at RB 2 behind Chubb?

Option 1: Jerome Ford. We drafted Jerome Ford in the 5th round to likely replace Karreem Hunt, since he is now a free agent. He showed some promise in preseason. Jerome Ford was a prospect that can both run and catch passes. Chubb could be the main running guy, and Jerome Ford could be used as a pass catching back. If the browns’ role with Jerome Ford, there is a good chance they also draft someday 3 running backs to compete with him.

Option 2: Draft someday 3 running backs to compete with Jerome Ford for RB 2.

Option 3: Sign a backup RB. Let’s say the browns aren’t confident in Jerome Ford, or don’t want to put much up to unproven players in a win now year. The browns might just want to sign a free agent running back. We would want a guy who is a good pass catching running back, since we already have the pure running ability in Nick Chubb. here are 2 options for backup RB

1: Kareem Hunt: Kareem Hunt is no longer what he used to be. He was very bad last year, and I was just ready for Jerome Ford to take the job. I would only sign Karreem Hunt if it was a cheap contract, and we are not handing him the job. If we signed Kareem Hunt, it would likely be to try to get some juice out of him. He would likely still have to compete for backup RB with Ford and or draft picks. I don’t see this scenario very likely.

2: Jerick MaKinnon. Last season for the chiefs, he was the backup RB. Isiah Pacheco had the Nick Chubb pure runner role. Similar to Nick Chubb, Isiah Pacheco did not do pass catching, just the rushing, while Jerick Makinnon did the pass catching work. The different here, is Chubb will do the running at a much higher level that Pacheco. How it would work on the browns would be similar. Nick Chubb would be the RB1. He would do most of the actual running and get most of the snaps. Jerrick Makinnon would do the pass catching at RB but obviously get less snaps than Chubb.
